Melissa and Jeff Hawai’ian Themed Wedding- June 28, 2008
This weekend we had a unique wedding experience. Melissa and Jeff had a Hawai’ian themed wedding! The ladies looked wonderful with their colourful dresses and orchids in their hair.

Haley thought that this lava rock at the Citadel Theatre was a perfect setting for a unique picture of the rings.

It was a scorcher on Saturday. The wading pool at the Alberta Legislature grounds was the perfect place to cool off!

And popsicles were essential to beat the heat.

There was no mistaking the theme of the wedding. After crossing under the arch every detail was Hawai’ian themed. It is a completely fun idea for a wedding and we hope that it catches on!

Not a detail was missed at this wedding. Melissa’s Aunt and her Mom baked and decorated the cakes. A romantic eye will notice how the palm trees on top form a heart. Even the chocolate favours in the shape of shells and stars were homemade!

This picture is one of the cutest that I have seen. There are more than two people in this picture. Haley and Melissa are both pregnant! Here they are showing off their beautiful bellies.

It was a long day and Melissa and Jeff’s daughter Madison took a much needed nap at the reception.

Congratulations Melissa and Jeff. You have started a wonderful family and we are so happy for all three (soon to be four) of you! Have a great time in Hawaii.
Shandro Photo MIA: Michael In Action
I took the opportunity at Jasmyn & Mitchell’s wedding to grab a few photos of Michael doing what he does best. I have a series on my Facebook profile of shots of mine that Michael has snuck into, and had great response to that, so we’re taking it to the blog! It was a hot, hot day, and we got some hot, hot photos!
PS: We just started a brand new Facebook page, click here to see it! If you’re already a member of our group, make sure to become a fan of the new page.

In this one, you’ll see how our lighting equipment sometimes doubles as a coat rack:

Michael to the rescue! We almost had to do the formal photos without the groom’s boutonniere, Michael received the delivery. We tend to end up with some interesting jobs on the wedding day.

This is my favorite set:

Jasmyn & Mitchell Wedding Photography - June 21, 2008
Our business allows us to visit parts of this beautiful country that we otherwise probably wouldn’t see. This weekend we travelled to Galahad, Alberta for the wedding of Jasmyn & Mitchell.

Jasmyn’s great-grandparents lived near Galahad, their house is still on her uncle’s farm there. It was a beautiful and romantic setting for the first photos of the couple.

Jasmyn & Mitchell have a great group of friends and we had a lot of fun working with them. I’m sure the Pilsner helped everyone loosen up!

We had a few observers while we were taking photos of the group:

The ceremony was held outdoors on the Jackson farm near Galahad, family and friends enjoyed the hot, sunny day and the beautiful backdrop for the ceremony.

You may recognize the car on the left - Mitch’s vintage Camaro was featured in their engagement photos. Another vintage car in the family made for stylish bridal party transportation.

The reception was held in the Galahad hall, which wouldn’t be complete without a set of armour behind the head table.

Jasmyn made the delicious wedding cake.

The next shot was visualized and taken by one of the bridesmaids, Candice. Maybe our newest assistant?

We hope you enjoy your cruise in the Mediterranean. Congratulations!
Deana & Chris Wedding Photography - June 14, 2008
The Shandro Photo blog is hopping! There’s a lot more to come this summer.
You’ll recognize Deana & Chris from their engagement session last fall. These two are the perfect combination of stunning and fun. Their love really shows!
Deana’s entire outfit was fabulous, something you would find in the pages of Vogue.

Here’s Michael showing the girls how great they look.

Deana and Chris chose an afternoon ceremony, and their first glimpse of each other was at a beautiful park, just the two of them (and us of course!). I love Chris’ expression on the right. He was so excited to see his bride-to-be!

We met up with the bridal party downtown for some more fun shots. We’ve had a lot of priests and ministers in our wedding photos before, but see if you can spot the nuns in this one!

This little alcove was a great place to give Deana & Chris a little privacy, and they certainly took advantage of it. Hot!

I loved Deana’s unique bouquet

The couple took advantage of a beautiful June day for an outdoor wedding ceremony at the Old Timer’s Cabin, and the reception was held there as well.

This little guy was really taken with the camera, and wouldn’t stop posing for us!

Congratulations, Deana & Chris!
Ashu and Garry Spring Engagement Pictures
Today was Ashu and Garry’s final portrait session with us leading up to their wedding in July. Garry had a surprise this time that you will see below.

Ashu and Garry had a traditional engagement ceremony in May 2007, but before their wedding this July Garry wanted to reaffirm his proposal with a second ring in a more intimate setting. It was an emotional and beautiful moment, and really shows how much Garry loves his bride-to-be.

Ashu and Garry, it has been great getting to know the two of you over the past year and a half. We are extremely excited about your upcoming wedding.
Ashu and Garry’s fall portrait session and winter portrait session can be found by clicking on their respective links.
Pam and Mark Engagement Photography
When we arrived at the University of Alberta to take pictures of Pam and Mark we were pleasantly surprised to see how nicely they were dressed up. Pam had even put on a corsage! They were really themselves in front of the camera…that is, they were fun!

We are looking forward to your wedding this August. We can’t wait to see how you will both be dressed up then!
Angele and Declan Wedding Photography - June 7, 2008
This weekend we were at the Union Bank Inn for the marriage of Angele and Declan. The ceremony was held in the Devonshire Room. The wedding was presided over by Brian Napier of Custom Vows who did a wonderful job. It was an intimate affair with friends and multiple generations of family.

After the ceremony we went to the Citadel Theatre to take pictures of the newlywed couple with their children.

The kids looked great!

The reception was held in the Giverny Ballroom at the Union Bank Inn.

While there were pleny of adults at the wedding, a big part of this reception was the kids! There were little ones running and playing all over the place.

There was even a kid’s table at the reception covered in toys and games. These girls were playing go fish!

As we were setting up a corner of the room for portraits these guys started hamming it up for the camera. Rabbit ears was the pose of choice.

This little cutie sat in the chair by herself and just waited to have her picture taken.

Angele and Declan, we wish you and your new family all of the best. With all of the children’s energy around your wedding was a lot of fun. It shows that you deeply care for each-other and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon.
