Anu & Rajeev – Engaged!

November 16, 2010

We are beyond excited for Anu and her finace Rajeev. We first met Anu at her sister’s engagement party shortly after we started Shandro Photo. We’ve become close with the whole family. When we heard Anu was engaged we were thrilled for her! Michael will be travelling with the family to Mexico for the wedding this spring while I stay home with our new baby…I have to admit I’m very disappointed as it is sure to be an incredible party with a lot of people that we know.

On the heels of Rajeev coming back from a trip to India, Michael found a beautiful sunset for their engagement photos.

And a couple of weeks later, it was time for a party! The official engagement of Anu and Rajeev was great cause for celebration.

We have enjoyed working with Mr. Dhanju over the past few years – he is the owner of the Meridian Banquet Hall and we have worked there many times. Daughter Ashu (left) is also a client of ours, and she and her husband own the Summerside Asian Market. Joti (far right) and her husband own Zaika Indian Bistro, a fantastic Indian restaurant in South Edmonton. This warm and generous family has been very kind to us and we are happy to celebrate this occasion with them.

We first met this family at a wedding a couple of years ago and have had the pleasure of becoming their family photographer. We’ve watched the family grow from 3 to 4, and were excited to see the new little guy come along. Their little girl is so incredibly sweet – our son Andrew didn’t want her to go home after the session was done.

It seemed like fall was so short in Edmonton this year, the leaves were only beautiful and the weather only warm for so long. As I’m typing this, the snow is swirling around outdoors and the day is dull and grey. As we plunge into winter it’s nice to have some nice fall memories to look back on. Michael found a few remaining leaves with the Vandenberghe Family, a very busy little family of 4.

This adorable family visited us for some photos recently. The little guy was a bit apprehensive about getting his picture taken, but was really excited by Andrew’s bulldozer so we decided to incorporate it into the shoot. The mother is a relative of Michael’s whom he has not seen for years. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to create photographs for her family. They will soon have all of these images in a canvas collage in their home.

This is a big post for a little guy! He was such a sweetheart and totally chilled out the entire session – and knowing his Mom and Dad he surely inherited that quality from them.

The Walsh family is a great example for anyone who is need of updated family photos.  Their son is now 16, and they haven’t had professional family photos since he was much younger.  As children grow and schedules get busy, it’s sometimes the last thing on a family’s mind to have photos taken, but it’s so important to document and cherish all the stages of our children’s lives. Who knows – maybe this young man will go to University out of town, and these photos will be a great way for mom and dad to feel closer to him while he’s gone.

We’ve been so busy editing and ordering wedding albums for our clients (we want them all to have beautiful albums to show off at Christmas!) that I’m afraid I’ve neglected showing some of our family portrait work on the blog. I’ll start with a few, and we have more to come soon!

The Mauthe Family was the winner of a prize we donated to the opening of the new J’Adore Dance studio – I know many people who have participated in classes there and had a wonderful experience (myself included!). The owner Jessica is a bundle of energy, and offers dance fitness classes for everyone from babies to adults.

Not all family photo sessions have to include changing leaves – this fun family opted for an urban session downtown.
