Archive for February, 2011

We are thrilled to have been awarded an honour by Bride.ca – our image of Stephanie and Branden was chosen as one of the top 7 wedding photos of 2010 in Canada! We’re also proud to be the only Alberta photographers who won the editor’s choice award.  You can read all about it here.

Stephanie & Branden’s wedding was a highlight of 2010 for us – it was a beautiful celebration of love and family in an absolutely stunning Mexican resort. Without their passion for each other, this image would not have been possible.

A little bit of background about this gorgeous shot (which Michael took, by the way) – Michael was in the ocean with Stephanie & Branden….WAY in the water. He couldn’t very well ask them to venture so far into the ocean without joining in on the experience itself. He was holding his camera inches above the water.  Since he had to look through the little viewfinder and couldn’t see waves coming, he would feel for waves moving up his arm, then he would and pull the camera up to make sure it didn’t get submerged. There was only a split second to capture this frame before the wave on the right hand side came in.

This image has won awards from bride.ca and the Professional Photographers of Canada.  Very hot, Stephanie and Branden!

She’s here! We welcomed our new daughter Evelyn on Feb 8th – it’s hard to believe she’s almost 2 weeks old already. Like any good photography couple, we couldn’t help ourselves but take a ton of photos of her arrival, and to get her in our studio as soon as possible.

We didn’t know Evelyn was going to be a girl, and we would have been happy with either a boy or a girl. But we’re delighted she’s a girl! Andrew was a surprise as well, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Those two moments, meeting my children for the first time, still bring me to tears – they are two of the best moments of my life, and I will always remember how amazing and overwhelming it felt.

Those first few moments together as a family in the hospital were so special.

Andrew can’t get enough of her. He likes to lay on the floor next to her, talk to her, and touch her face. He wants us to look away so he can have private time with her. So adorable!

And a quick studio session. Sorry folks, I’m afraid you’re going to see a lot of photos of these kids over the years, especially if we’re friends on Facebook!

Celeste and Eric planned a beautiful winter-themed wedding – look how gorgeous a winter wedding can be! The whole day was a blast.

I want to thank Celeste and Eric so much – our baby’s due date was 2 days after their wedding, and we were all a bit nervous that baby would arrive in the middle of the ceremony and Michael would have to be called away. We arranged for backup shooters, and backups to our backups, and we appreciate Celeste & Eric being so calm about the whole thing. Special thanks to our second shooters Sam and Natasha, – it made us all feel much better knowing that Celeste & Eric would be in good hands if Michael had to leave.

And…for all of you who are waiting for baby news….still nothing. We’ll keep you posted!

I adore this image of Celeste coming up the aisle – her face says it all.

Married!

The group warmed up with some spirits at a local pub.

The icicles, the falling snow, it’s the perfect winter’s kiss.

Congratulations Celeste & Eric!!

Meet Julianne, the owner of A Modern Proposal – a fantastic event planning company in Edmonton. She’s ready to welcome her little bundle of joy shortly! This baby is one lucky kid – the nursery is to die for, but I wouldn’t expect any less from Julianne.

We’ve been really lucky to get to know the Martin’s. Christine first found out about us at a local children’s boutique in Terwillegar Amy Lou.  We’re always happy to work with families in our neighbourhood!  Christine and I were at similar stages in our pregnancy when we met, and I think we bonded over that.  We’d have chats not just about photography, but what was happening with our little ones.  Michael visited their home for maternity photos over the Christmas break.

And then, baby J arrived!  I thought she would be one of my last shoots before our own baby arrived, but apparently mine is holding our for warmer weather.

Christine has been so sweet, even offering to drive me to the hospital if Michael is out when I go into labour.  It has been so great talking with her about everything, and we look forward to watching their family grow up in the future.  Who knows, maybe our kids will go to school together!  Meeting this family was a reminder of how amazing our job is – I really feel like I’ve found my calling in life.

Mike & Oriana tied the knot a few years ago and came to us for some updated family photos over the holiday.
