We’re in the midst of Deep & Rick’s wedding, Michael will be flying to Vancouver tomorrow for the ceremony, and then back here for the reception next weekend!  Back when the blooms were still out in Edmonton Michael met them for an engagement session.

On a side note, this super busy couple owns local Indian restaurant Daawat, so the food at the wedding is sure to be amazing!!

We shared a wonderful evening with local photographer Jill Coursen and her family – it was her parent’s 40th wedding anniversary and the whole family got together. Everything started with these two!

This little guy and I were great friends by the end of the shoot.

We did a little mini shoot with Jill & Dion afterwards.

Jill – you have an amazing family, thank you for sharing a fun evening with us!

Jennifer

June 30, 2011

Jennifer is a gorgeous girl and this photo shoot was just for her.

When Baby Avery’s mom came in for her newborn session, she brought along her husband’s two children, hoping for a few shots of them together.  After the shoot, she told her husband that we didn’t get any of the three kids, wanting to keep it a surprise for Father’s Day.  She left us a message on our Shandro Kids Facebook Page letting us know that he was ‘overcome’ with the surprise – nothing could have made us happier.

First, here are a few shots of Avery…before her arrival!

I think it was a sore spot that Avery’s room wasn’t finished yet…

Looks like someone was hungry!

Tania & Dave were married on her family’s farm in a beautiful intimate wedding. This was a bit of a different experience for us. Tania & Dave found us through local wedding planner Ashley of Simply Unique Weddings, however prior to the wedding we hadn’t met Tania & Dave, or even talked to them on the phone, and we had no idea what they looked like!  It was really exciting driving up to the farm, not having any idea what the wedding was going to be like.

When we met them, we were a perfect fit! I was thrilled when I saw Tania’s dress, I absolutely love her style. We spent a lot of time just cracking jokes and laughing.

During the ceremony I spied this really beautiful wood shed, it was the first gem we found on the farm for photos.

Pure, sweet, light.

Thank you Tania & Dave! We had such a wonderful time with you!

I love laid back clients.  It’s fantastic to see our couples enjoy their wedding day, to truly enjoy it from start to finish.   Sneha & Kashan epitomized our ideal clients – easy to photograph, a pleasure to spend time with, and accompanied by fantastic friends and family. We helped them celebrate their marriage the day after our 5 year anniversary – the May long weekend was a great weekend for us, and we wish Sneha & Kashan as much happiness in their marriage as we have found together.

Sneha & Kashan’s ceremony was at the TransAlta Arts Barns – we loved being able to work with the stage lighting! And all the girls were able to get ready in the dressing rooms which was ideal.

Kashan’s barat extended throughout the streets of Old Strathcona

Sneha threw her rice first – I think that means she’s in charge!

I adore the colour of Sneha’s sari – we couldn’t quite put our finger on what it was called but it’s beautiful and suited her very well.

They had a quick change before the reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Sneha & Kashan’s friends and family performed some amazing dance routines!

Kashan’s not such a bad dancer himself…

Special shout outs to Raj & Eileen from A Love Story – one of our favourite videographers to work with and to our newest second shooter Melissa who has a few a shots in this blog post as well.

Johnson Family

June 7, 2011

We have a new member of the family!  Michael’s sister’s family welcomed new baby Isabella just a few weeks ago.  They’re going to be moving to BC shortly and we’re really really going to miss them.

Their home was the perfect spot for maternity photos before Isabella’s arrival.

I’m a little biased, but I think I have the cutest nieces and nephews in the whole world.

The Hopkins Family

The Hopkins Family is the grand prize winner from our contest a little while ago. It was awesome visiting them in their home. Their little boy is a lot like our son: full of energy and loves trains.

As a side note, check out Love Cake – Lindsey’s website about food, style, and generally awesome things! Plus lots of giveaways!

This is Michael: while Haley was home with our new baby girl back in March, I jetted to Mexico for a unique wedding.

Anu and Rajeev did something quite different for their wedding – they had a traditional Sikh wedding in an untraditional location: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! We believe this is the start of a trend. We met Anu in 2007 when her twin sister Ashu was getting engaged, and we have grown very close to this wonderful family.

So let’s get started with the pictures from this trend-setting wedding! Anu’s sisters did her mehndi by the beach.

The sangeet was an open-air affair on the hotel’s beautiful infinity pool patio.

How many Dhanju sisters does it take to lift Garry?

The DJ is their friend Scotty, who totally pounded the beats…we expect to see him at many weddings in Edmonton in the future!

The decor for the chura ceremony was unlike anything I have ever seen before: fantastic white couches, shiny white dance floor and bar, crashing waves, and distant mountains.

Anu is stunning!

They got married at the Dreams Los Cabos, and the resort did a fantastic job of taking care of Anu & Rajeev’s every desire. They got ready for the wedding separately in the resort.

A few days before the wedding I had noticed a place to rent horses on the beach. Many Indian grooms will ride to the ceremony on a horse for the barat, and I thought it would be incredible to have Rajeev do the same. So I surprised him by renting a horse for his grand entrance!

The ceremony location was picturesque.

After the ceremony I had a chance to spend some time with Anu & Rajeev around the beautiful old town with a vibrant marketplace.

An Indian Sweets shop in Mexico?

Earlier in the week I had scouted a location with a calm beach for our ‘trash the lengha’ photo shoot! Anu had really wanted to do this, so all three of us hopped into the water.

The reception was held in a private corner of the hotel, can you imagine a more beautiful place to have your first dance? And Anu & Rajeev treated us to a fireworks show.

We had a water taxi shuttle us to these incredible secluded cliffs the day after the wedding. The white outfits look amazing against the sandy rock.
