This darling girl came to visit me in the studio last week! She gave me a bit of a run for my money getting her to sleep, but  once she conked out she was so peaceful. Thanks to mom and dad for bringing her into the studio!

I’ve known Gennie for a few years now, and had the pleasure of getting to know Antonio after they started dating.  Gennie and Antonio met when she was working in Mexico, and she moved down there to stay with him. Eventually he moved up to Canada and now they have celebrated their wedding here!  A few members of Antonio’s family traveled to Canada for the event, and many more sent video messages.

Hair: Harisma
Decor: ABC Weddings
Dress: David’s Bridal
Groom’s Suit: Derks
Officiant: Tim Cook
Ceremony: Hastings Lake Gardens
Reception: Edmonton Hotel and Convention Centre

These little guys were so cute!  In a twist on the sand ceremony, Gennie & Antonio combined sand from Puerto Vallarta (where they met) and Cancun (where they lived together).

This was our first time shooting in the Edmonton Hotel & Convention Centre, and it was beautiful!

The dating game! This question was – what bugs Gennie most about Antonio.

This was what was the song that was playing when they met?

Nav & Raj had a fairy tale wedding – complete with a Cinderella carriage!  Nav & Raj are a very generous couple and made a big effort to ensure that everyone else had fun at their wedding.  Michael really enjoyed talking with their friends and family in between the wedding events.

Reception: Meridian Banquet Hall
Florals: Sugar Blossoms
Cake: Karin’s Festive Foods
Hair & Makeup: Sonia Sajnani
Decor: Exquisite Creations
Cinderella Carriage: MP Stables
Entertainment: Shadow Twins of 3rd Street Beat

Prior to the ceremony and reception, the couple enjoyed ceremonies to prepare for the big day.

Nav & Raj both love to laugh a lot. Their wedding day was a joyous one. Fabulous stylist Sonia Sajnani helped Nav look gorgeous for the wedding.

I love the mehndi design on Nav’s feet.

Nav & Raj also incorporated a ceremony at the Hindu Mandir on their wedding day

Raj had to bargain with his new bride’s family for Nav’s hand, they didn’t let him off easily! For those not familiar with the doli ceremony, the groom pays the bridesmaids to let the bride leave her family home and join him at his family home. The bargaining tends to be crazy and wild (and sometimes loud and messy), and the leaving tends to be very emotional. All of this silly string was sprayed after the negotiation was finished, breaking tradition a little and catching the groom’s side off guard.

Nav had a fairytale departure to Raj’s house, the Cinderella carriage transported the couple to Raj’s family home. Luckily, Nav & Raj only lived one street over from each other, so it was a relatively short journey! The two families are lucky to live close, it ties the families even tighter together.

Watch the Edmonton Journal in the next couple of weeks – they are featuring the story of Nav, Raj, and the Cinderella carriage, with photos from Shandro Photo!

I love these two. We had a great adventure for their engagement session, I felt like I was hiking through the mountains with friends. They had found a really cool spot that they wanted to use for the session and I loved it.  We had a great warm summer evening. I can’t wait for their wedding in October!

I had such a wonderful time with Kathy & Jack on their special day. Our portrait session together was relaxed, and the ideas flowed. They are a soft spoken couple who love hip hop music and partying with their friends. So you can imagine how fun their reception was. They celebrated their marriage in an intimate private ceremony prior to their reception at Beijing Beijing restaurant. Thanks to Carmen for all of her help at this wedding!

This was my first wedding with dragon dancers, it was so awesome!  Kathy even got to feed them.

Kathy’s sister Dao was an excellent maid of honour – and as a makeup artist she knew exactly how to wipe Kathy’s tears away without smudging anything!  Check out her Facebook page here.

Not only is Dao an awesome hair & makeup artist, she also does a mean impression of a 90s boy band – she serenaded Kathy & Jack with a very spirited performance.  Actually, there was quite a lot of singing/rapping during the reception… it was a crazy party!

Did I mention a crazy party? Yep – guest scavenger hunt musical chairs. Or something like that. I just hung on to my camera and tried not to get trampled.

Kaylee & Kenny were almost married outside on a beautiful summer day. But, this being Alberta, the weather decided to change in the space of 20 minutes.  So we had an opportunity for outdoor photos before and after the ceremony, but they were destined to be married indoors at Festival Place in Sherwood Park instead. No one seemed to mind, and there were smiles all around during the ceremony.

Kaylee & Kenny had a first look in Fort Saskatchewan. Kenny was pretty nervous, and they were really happy to see each other.  It was like the world melted away and all they could see was each other.  Thanks to Christy for shooting with me – it’s always great to have two perspectives especially for something like the first look.

The main request that I had from Kaylee & Kenny was photos in the canola.  We drove around the country for a while, trying to dodge the rain, and found the perfect beautiful field to shoot in.

Aline & Ron were a pleasure to photograph – I love shooting in the evenings in the summer. The soft light and warm breeze is fantastic.

When Kristin & Marty said that they loved having St. Albert Botanic Park in their backyard, I thought they meant that they loved living in St. Albert and having places like this close by. But, they literally meant it was in their backyard, living a very short distance from the park!  I had never shot there before but was treated to a beautiful backdrop of lilies, roses and other beautiful flowers. Kristin & Marty are both teachers, so the summertime was the perfect opportunity for engagement photos.  I’m looking forward to their wedding next year!

Jackie & Chris chose the beautiful Devonian Botanical Gardens as the backdrop for their engagement session with Michael.  The rain held off, and the sunset was beautiful for this cute couple.
