I am so unbelievably proud of Michael. Just after we got back from Stephanie & Branden’s wedding, he received notification that he had won Best in Class for the Photojournalist Wedding category of the National convention of the Professional Photographers of Canada! Whew, that’s a mouthful, so I’ll sum it up by saying that he is awesome, award-winning and now nationally recognized. As anyone in the PPOC knows, it’s not an easy feat to get to that level. He couldn’t have done it without the wonderful Renu & Gurjeet, who just celebrated their first anniversary.

Here is Michael’s award-winning image. This was taken during the Doli ceremony, which is a very emotional ceremony during East Indian weddings. This is when the bride leaves her parent’s house for the last time and goes with her new husband to become a part of his family. The image is entitled: Letting Go.

Bride’s Choice 2010 Award Winner!

WPPI 2009 Album Competition – Accolade of Excellence

We have exciting news that we’ve been dying to share. We finally got the results for the WPPI album competition we entered (for those of you who don’t know, WPPI is Wedding and Portrait Photographers International). The WPPI convention is like the Oscars of photography. We didn’t get a chance to go to the convention this year, but were so happy to photograph David and Laura’s wedding!

Our album of Shanna and Brett moved on to the final round of judging in Vegas at the WPPI convetion on the Valentine’s Day weekend and…we received an Accolade of Excellence!! We are so very excited!! Our album was judged live with some of the most amazing wedding albums in the world. There were nearly 200 entries into the album competition.

Many of you have seen the album in person, it is one of the samples we have on display in our gallery. Thank you so much to Brett and Shanna for being such an amazing couple and sharing their wedding with us, and to Christy Wells, our awesome assistant who contributed many images to the album.

It was our first time entering the WPPI competition, next year we’ll be entering the print competition as well, and maybe even going to Vegas!

Show Stopper – PPOC Print Competition

I am so proud of Michael! His awesome print “Show Stopper” from Shanna and Brett’s wedding was accepted into the Print Salon at the 2008 PPOC-Alberta (Professional Photographers of Canada) Provincial Competition. This print was also nominated for Best in Class for the Photojournalistic Wedding category, and the People’s Choice award! This stunning shot was a once in a lifetime chance…Shanna and Brett were surprised by the confetti, and Michael was in the right place at the right time to get the perfect shot, full of emotion. Congratulations Michael!

Swept Away – PPOC Print Competition

I am pleased to announce that Haley’s image ‘Swept Away’ placed at the 2008 PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada) National Competition. Is was scored as an accepted image. This stunning picture of Vanesa and Wayne shows off Haley’s unique perspective and her creative talent.
