Tanner wasn’t so sure about getting his photos taken with his cousin and mom, but he warmed up to the session…eventually. We took his photos near his school, it was his idea (with a little help from mom).

I had a hard time finding Tanner during the shoot – he loved to run around, and play in the trees and bushes.

And when Tanner was done, the shoot was over.

I was so honoured to work with the Williams family. They officially adopted their son after having welcomed him into their hearts and home several years ago. It was so obvious from spending time with these three that they were meant to find each other, and to create this new family.

We were so lucky to work with the gorgeous Agerbak family recently – it’s easy to see where the kids get their good looks from! Mom picked awesome bright colours for everyone to wear.

A good word to describe this little girl: precocious!

The latest addition to the family.

I love this sweet moment with Mom.

Big sister, and her new best buddy.

We’ve enjoyed watching your family grow, and we’ll see you again in the future!

Our little neice Cali is 5 weeks old, and Brody is nearing two! Proud (and busy!) mom Krista visited our studio with her two little ones.

This wagon was Michael’s when he was a boy. He received two and this one was left in the box since 1977. We opened it up when we started Shandro Kids, and Brody is the first one to use it!

This is SO cute. I love these shirts that Krista found (‘Little Sister’ and ‘Big Brother’).

Mom and her girl.

Cali is such a beautiful baby girl.

I love baby back wrinkles. So sweet!

One of our favourite clients Ashu is celebrating the life of her dog Gizmo, as he is nearing the end of his days. Gizmo has been a beloved pet for 15 years, and we spent some time with Ashu, her family, and Gizmo on their beautiful acreage.

Ashu bought Giz a polo shirt for his special photo shoot…

…and a Juicy Couture track suit!

The whole family.

It’s here, it’s here!  The big announcement!  We are excited and proud today to launch Shandro Kids, an itsy-bitsy division of Shandro Photo. Shandro Kids is a project that began with the arrival of our beautiful son, and a desire to explore different kinds of photography.

Shando Kids, simply put, is fun, real photography of everything to do with kids: maternity, newborns, babies, toddlers, young kids, and families containing any of those little people!

All of the details are on our brand-spankin’ new website www.shandrokids.com.

We LOVE giveaways, and rewarding our clients, so we have a few really awesome things to announce with the launch of Shandro Kids!

Cool thing #1: 5% of all Shandro Kids profits in our first year will be donated to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. We were blessed with a beautiful and healthy boy, and we want to do our part for those who need a little extra help.

Cool thing #2: The first 5 clients to book portrait sessions will each get a free session, and be entered to win a gallery-wrapped canvas from their session.

Cool thing #3: May is the 5th month, and the month of Mother’s Day. To celebrate Moms, every client who books a portrait session in May will receive 5% off of their session and all products they purchase. (The session can be in any month, only the booking has to be made in May).

That’s just the beginning, you will always find something cool going on with Shandro Kids.  Another great idea for Mother’s Day – gift certificates!  Send us an email for more information.

All of the Shandro Kids sessions will be posted on this blog, but they will have their own look.  Here’s a sneak peek.  This little guy was born in April, his blog post will be coming up soon!

Thank you to everyone who has helped us out with the launch and the conception of Shandro Kids. Our amazing logo was designed by Gina of Butter Media in Vancouver – she is fantastic! If you need design work, she’s your lady. Most importantly we want to thank all of our clients, who have let us into their lives, homes, and hearts. We couldn’t create the beautiful images that we do without all of you.

As part of the Pay It Forward movement, we had the pleasure of meeting with Sherri and her family for family photos.  Sherri is a local photographer, you can visit her site here.  I encourage all of you photographers out there to get your photos taken, don’t forget to document your own family while you spend so much time documenting the lives of other people.

It was a fun afternoon of brownies, and a very short game of Twister.  Thank you for welcoming us into your home!  We hope you enjoy your canvas print.

Pay It Forward

March 4, 2009

This is a post for photographers, and anyone who needs to get family photos done but just hasn’t found the time yet.  You know the saying that a cobbler’s child has no shoes?  Well, it’s probably not true that a photographer’s child has no photos, but I know from personal experience how tough it is to book professional photos for ourselves.  Other than our wedding, the first photos we had professionally taken of us since our wedding were Haley’s maternity photos.  We have to schedule time to ensure we are taking enough photos of Andrew.  Our family’s history will be told in photos, and we don’t want to miss out on a moment because we are too busy and wrapped up in our work and our lives.

John Michael Cooper started a Pay It Forward project to encourage photographers to have their family photos taken. I had the great privilege to meet John at a workshop with Jesh de Rox last year, and we met him again at the DWF convention in January.  He is an inspiring, creative, and revolutionary photographer.  We have been the recipients of two photos shoots from other photographers, Haley’s maternity photos by Rob and Lauren, and recently some family photos by Lulu from Calgary at the DWF convention.

Here’s John (a photo I took at the Jesh workshop):

It’s our turn to give back!  We owe two photo shoots for fellow photographers and their families/significant others.  If you are a follower of our work and find it inspiring, drop us a line and we will create some beautiful images for you.  Email info@shandrophoto.com if you are interested.

Aromin Family Portraits

October 16, 2008

We have been very close friends of the Aromins for years (Ronelo was the best man at our wedding) and we were happy to finally find a time to do family photos for them.

We’ve had the pleasure of watching your family grow over the years, and look forward to doing portraits with you more often!
