This is a post for photographers, and anyone who needs to get family photos done but just hasn’t found the time yet. You know the saying that a cobbler’s child has no shoes? Well, it’s probably not true that a photographer’s child has no photos, but I know from personal experience how tough it is to book professional photos for ourselves. Other than our wedding, the first photos we had professionally taken of us since our wedding were Haley’s maternity photos. We have to schedule time to ensure we are taking enough photos of Andrew. Our family’s history will be told in photos, and we don’t want to miss out on a moment because we are too busy and wrapped up in our work and our lives.
John Michael Cooper started a Pay It Forward project to encourage photographers to have their family photos taken. I had the great privilege to meet John at a workshop with Jesh de Rox last year, and we met him again at the DWF convention in January. He is an inspiring, creative, and revolutionary photographer. We have been the recipients of two photos shoots from other photographers, Haley’s maternity photos by Rob and Lauren, and recently some family photos by Lulu from Calgary at the DWF convention.

Here’s John (a photo I took at the Jesh workshop):

It’s our turn to give back! We owe two photo shoots for fellow photographers and their families/significant others. If you are a follower of our work and find it inspiring, drop us a line and we will create some beautiful images for you. Email info@shandrophoto.com if you are interested.
