Little Kaira joins big sister Ava, and I’m sure the two will be wonderful friends.  I want to extend our warmest congratulations to this family of 4, which you’ll be seeing more of and we follow Kaira through her first year!

Also, an enormous THANK YOU! to my colleague Christy for photographing Kaira in our studio in my absence (Kaira decided to come fashionably late to this party!).  I love the photos she captured of this little sweetheart.

Laura made this adorable hat, it was the hat that Kaira came home from the hospital in!

I first met Owyn’s mom last year at the Canada Photo Convention, and a mutual friend gifted her a newborn session with me.  It was great catching up with Ashley again, and snuggling with little Owyn.  Ashley is a lovely human being, and motherhood looks amazing on her. She is also a gifted photographer out of Red Deer: Ashley Jackson Photo. <insert joke about Owyn being the most photographed kid ever because her mom is a photographer>. You know you were all thinking it.

This cutie pie visited the studio recently, and his mom and dad are so happy he’s here!

A bit of info for those expecting and planning newborn photos: while the ‘ideal’ time for newborn photos is around 7-10 days, they can be done later with great results. Zac was already 2 weeks old when he came to the studio for his newborn photos and slept like a dream.  So just because you haven’t planned the photos immediately after your child’s arrival, you don’t have to miss out!

This cutie gave me a run for my money – she wanted to stay up and play!  Once she nodded off she was a dream.  Congrats to Shawna, Dennis & big brother Carter for welcoming this beautiful girl into the family!

Tristan is the tiniest little guy I have photographed – born 9 weeks early, and weight just over 5 pounds when he came into the studio at 7 weeks old. This little guy was a delight, and it’s awesome to see him growing so well.

This little sweetheart visited me when he was 12 days old. He joins two older sisters, and his mommy and daddy are very excited that he’s here!

I’m usually fairly good about keeping the blog up to date. In the last couple of months, I have fallen woefully behind.  There’s a good reason! Two actually.  First, we’ve been travelling like mad. Since November we’ve been to Italy, Phoenix (twice), Victoria-Vancouver-Calgary (roadtrip), Hawaii, and New York. And I went to Las Vegas.  So it’s been a bit of a crazy time!  I’m in no way complaining. We love travelling so much, with and also without the kiddos.  It’s a great way to open our eyes to different things in the world, and refresh us for our shoots with our clients. But…it means I don’t update the blog as often.  Also, those of you close to us will know that we recently welcomed a live-in nanny into our home!  As the kiddos are getting busy, and Shandro Photo gets busier, we realized that we needed some help. It’s been a long process, but she finally arrived this week, and now I have <gasp> uninterrupted time at the computer!  Just in time for wedding season.  So expect a lot more action on this blog in the next little while.

First up is little baby Sophie.  She’s the reason for the Calgary stop on our Victoria-Vancouver-Calgary roadtrip.  She is a darling girl, and we’re so excited for her parents that she arrived healthy and beautiful.  I love newborn photography so very much!

We traveled all the way to Victoria, BC to meet baby Casey.  This little sweetheart was snuggled in his mom’s arms when we met him, and it was easy to see how much she loves him.  Casey’s dad had a lively discussion with Michael about politics and economics during the shoot, and I can guarantee that little Casey is going to learn a lot about the world from his parents.  Welcome little Casey! It was a pleasure to meet you.

Another beautiful newborn baby is gracing the blog this week!  Either I’ve gotten much better at this, or the babies I’ve worked with lately have been incredible, because this little sweetheart was done her whole shoot in under an hour. I could have easily spent another hour playing with her!  She was the first to be photographed in a couple of my new props from the states, and an awesome monkeywood bowl that I picked up on travels in Hawaii.

Welcome Payton – mom and dad are so delighted that you are here!
