Our summer wedding season is winding down, and we’ve had some amazing weddings to finish up (don’t worry, we have much more to come in the winter!)

Carrie & Nick are so loved and supported by their family and friends, and it was heartwarming to watch everyone celebrate with them. When Carrie’s dad stepped to the podium to toast his daughter, I felt emotion welling up.  It was an awesome day.

This is SO Carrie.

And so is this. We had an awesome morning at Carrie’s parents’ house getting ready.

The ceremony was at St. Theresa’s Church.

Stylin’.

We had some really beautiful time alone with Carrie & Nick. So sweet together, and so happy to be married.

The reception at the Westin was STUNNING. Every detail was perfection, including the cupcakes by Fuss Cupcakes, and the amazing floral arrangements by Kate Ashton. We sat with Kelly from Kate Ashton at dinner and really enjoyed meeting her – I would recommend checking them out if you are in need of a florist! She even re-arranged the head table arrangement so we could get a better view of Carrie & Nick. That’s what I call service.

This is such a fun cake topper, again – SO Carrie.

Carrie & Nick shared a romantic first dance, complete with onlookers.

Congratulations Carrie & Nick!

Leanne & Brody are getting married in Kelowna next year, and it sounds like the wedding is going to be incredible. While the weather is still good and the leaves are still (mostly) green, Michael met them for some romantic engagement photos.

Anna & Dave are so sweet, so gentle, so totally goofy. They are made for each other. Anna & Dave are good friends of Michael’s sister Alaina and we’ve really enjoyed getting to know them. We know their wedding next year is going to be amazing!

We have been anticipating Stephanie and David’s wedding since we first met them nearly 2 years ago. We’ve had an awesome engagement session with them, and they were models for the workshop we hosted with Ben Chrisman. They rock! Being at their wedding, I felt like I was watching good friends walk down the aisle, and it was a wonderful feeling. I love this job!!

The girls got ready at Avanti salon.

Now, I love hanging out with the girls, but I have to admit a slight bit of jealousy. This is what Michael got to do on the wedding morning. Yep, the guys went to the Whitemud Amusement Park.

Michael and I were acting as spies for Stephanie and David – they got ready at the same hotel, and made their way separately to the ceremony at the Winspear – they didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, so Michael and I were on our cell phones making sure they didn’t cross paths.

The Winspear is an elegant location for a ceremony. Everyone (bride, groom, and best man included) was tearing up during the ceremony.

We were excited to be back at the Sutton Place hotel for the reception – we love it there.

A twist on the shoe game – the question was ‘who is the sexiest’?

David and Stephanie did a beautifully choreographed first dance to ‘I’ve Got the World on a String’.

David & Stephanie, I know you have been waiting anxiously to see these photos – we hope you have an incredible adventure in Australia for the next two months – we can’t wait to see you when you come back!

PS: I know that after seeing this post you’re going to want to see much more of Stephanie & David. Not only are there more photos on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/edmontonweddingphotographers) – we have a surprise post coming up soon! You don’t want to miss it…. Make sure to visit the website on September 27th – we’ll be at Bridal Expo and there will be lots of excitement on the blog and at the show!

We first met Rorik and Julia in Ottawa for their engagement session.  They came back to Edmonton for their summer wedding, on one of the hottest days of the year.

Rorik spent the last year preparing an incredible gift for his new wife.  He composed a song for her, and his father (who has an amazing voice) performed it during the ceremony.  I was moved to tears – the song was so beautiful, Rorik’s skill and talent is unparalleled.

I love this look between Julia and Rorik when she finds out what he has done for her.

We spent the very hot afternoon searching for cool, shady locations to beat the intense heat.

Julia & Rorik’s reception was all in the details.  They had planned everything so that everyone had fun!  Everything in the room made you look twice.

The chalice on the favour box and the cake (which I LOVE!!) was drawn by Rorik – made up of his and Julia’s profiles. These next few photos were taken by our assistant Raymond.

Check out this awesome menu!  On the other side is the mirror image.

What do you see in this one?

These are heart slinkies – how cute!

The reception was at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club, a fantastic location to sneak away for a few sunset photos.

Julia & Rorik performed a choreographed dance to the delight of the guests.

Congratulations you two!  Thank you so much for having us as a part of your day.

OK, so we all know the weather is hot right now, but do you know what’s hotter? Carrie & Nick. Seriously hot. You’ll see them again in September and judging by Carrie’s fashion sense it’s going to be fabulous.

We hope you enjoy these hot photos on a hot summer day.

I think Nick looks amazing here - he has such an incredible smile.

So many of you already know Sameera and Nitin, and what wonderful couple they are. Nitin’s proposal was a hot topic on the internet! If you missed it, you can read about it here.

We are so excited about their wedding this year, a melding of two hearts, two families, and two cities – we are going to Vancouver for part of the wedding!

Enjoy these engagement photos, and you’ll see more of these two next year.

Clayton & Carly’s wedding day was perfect.  Their garden wedding at the Devonian Botanical Gardens was beautiful, I loved watching their faces during the ceremony – stealing little glances at each other, and smiling.  A lot of smiling.

I love Michael’s patience with photography.  He waits, and sets up the perfect shot. This one of Carly walking up the aisle is a perfect example. He saw exactly what he wanted to do, and got it just at the right time.  Sometimes the person second shooting (him in this case) comes up with the most amazing photo.

The Devonian Gardens are a great place for anyone who wants to incorporate nature into their ceremony.  The setting is stunning.

Now, I love Michael’s work, but we’re a bit competitive sometimes, and I have to say I love this next image (mine!).  I was taking portraits of Carly looking straight in the lens. I wanted a great expression on her face, so I asked her to think back to her first date with Clayton. <click>. I don’t know what her eyes are saying, but at this moment she is looking at him and thinking about their first date. It’s such a pure expression, and she looks amazing.

We found this awesome bridge just outside Devon.

Bling!

The reception was at the Sunridge Ski Area.  It was a really cool location, and we’d never been before, which was a bonus!

I love receptions.  It’s so cool for us to see photos from when they were young or first dating, and to hear funny stories about them (like how Carly just got her driver’s licence last month!).  We had a blast at this reception.  Carly & Clayton have warm and loving families, and an awesome group of friends.

Thank you two so much for having us, can’t wait for you to see these photos!

We have been looking forward to Shauntel and Jason’s wedding for so long! When we first met them, they described what they wanted to do for their wedding, and it sounded like an amazing day. It was even better than we imagined.

This is my favourite getting ready picture of the year.

St. Jean Baptiste Church in Morinville looks like the kind of grand church you would find in a much larger and much older city. It was incredible.

It was Jason’s dream to go biking in a skate park at his wedding. We loved the idea, and also that Jason was so into the photos. We love these shots. He is incredibly skilled (and it was tough to get him to stop biking around for the photos!).  The last image took Michael a lot of work to conceptualize, shoot, and process, but it was SO worth it – Jason, I expect that to be your Facebook profile!

Shauntel and Jason had such a fun bridal party. We really enjoyed spending the day with them.

Shauntel’s sister is expecting, and we did the fastest mini-maternity session ever for her.  She’s one hot mom-to-be!

It rained pretty hard, but we found some refuge. I’ve heard it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day, so Shauntel and Jason must be the luckiest couple in the world.

The shoe game is much more fun with shoes like theirs!

Shauntel and Jason – you had our ideal kind of wedding. Lighthearted, stress free, and all about the two of you. Congratulations!

Jessica and Jeremy’s wedding was a joyous celebration of love, family, community, and faith. It was beautiful to see them celebrate their union amongst family and friends.

Jessica is awesome – the first bride I’ve seen playing video games before the ceremony! It was a very serious game of Wii Mario Kart….

The ceremony was held at the North Pointe Community Church. The church is incredibly beautiful, with awesome lighting, and tiered seating so everyone had a great view of the ceremony.

I was so lucky to see someone accidentally pop their streamers – I didn’t know this was going to happen! I quickly grabbed this candid shot.

We did a lot of the photos at Vanguard Bible College that Jessica, Jeremy, and several members of their bridal party attended. We had never been there, and we delighted to be able to use the rootop, with a great view of downtown Edmonton! We found a few wonderful locations in the college.

So, we had a bit of a mishap in the morning…um…my camera stopped working during the getting ready photos. Panic! We have backup equipment, but it was definitely a scary moment. We didn’t miss any shots, but did pick up a new 5D MII at the Kingsway McBain while driving in between locations. Jess & Jer helped us break it in!

Downtown was alive with The Works art festival. I love this shot – especially with the cops!

It was a really hot day, and Jessica and Jeremy surprised us by being up for jumping into the fountain at City Hall. We are so lucky to be able to work with such great clients as these two – they were amazing!

The reception was also held at North Pointe Community Church, and the transformation to a reception venue was awesome. The wonderful meal was catered by Accapella Catering.
