Anita & Sam – Winspear Wedding

Anita & Sam’s wedding was, in a word, perfect. A lovely June day in Edmonton, beautiful venues (the Winspear at the Delta hotel), sunshine, and family and friends all around. Anita & Sam are a little quirky, just like us; they both work in the financial world, and their first date was to a Star Trek movie. With the help of planner Renee Chan from Get Wed, they planned a lovely, elegant wedding.

The best thing about working with Anita & Sam is how involved they were in the process. They had a lot of great ideas for their photos, and made sure to build in time for their bridal party to enjoy themselves and relax. They’re off on an Italian honeymoon right now, we can’t wait to hear about their trip!

Alex & Devin – Farm Engagement Photos

I first met Alex on a girls trip to Vegas, which turned out to be the Vegas trip to end all Vegas trips (we even met Woody Harrelson)! We had such an amazing time together, especially considering we hadn’t met before. What I knew of Alex was cute dresses, shopping, and heels. Little did I know that I had met ‘city’ Alex, and I had yet to meet ‘country’ Alex. ’Country’ Alex lives with her fiance Devin on a farm near Red Deer, and that is where I caught up with them for their engagement session. They are such a great couple and time just flew by while we were shooting. Devin’s family farm is also where their wedding ceremony is going to be, on New Years Eve this winter. I can’t wait!! I’m also excited to work with Julia from Once Upon Your Day.

Lindsey & J.Lee – Edmonton Engagement Photos

A lot of people ask us what sets us apart from other other photographers. Here is a prime example: while other photographers in the city were clambering over each other to get photos in the beautiful pink blossoms that visit Edmonton for about a week each year, I was inside a dark, closed bar on Whyte Ave with Linsdey & J.Lee. Not that the blossoms aren’t beautiful, but when we get a chance to do something different, we jump at it. J.Lee DJs at Red Square Vodka Bar, and had private access for their engagement session. These two are quirky and fun, and their wedding is sure to be a great party.

Parveen & Jason – Edmonton Sikh Wedding Photographer

When we usually photography a Sikh wedding the ceremony and reception held on different days. Parveen & Jason chose to do their ceremony and reception on the same day and while it made for a packed and busy day, it meant that the party never had to stop.

I can’t get over how stunning Parveen is. I’d love for us to take credit for all of the gorgeous photos of her but I don’t know if it’s possible to take an unflattering photo of her. She and Jason are such a sweet couple and everyone had an amazing time at the wedding.

This wedding was all about family from the start. Parveen’s cousins from Toronto and best friend did hair and makeup for her and the family.

Parveen and Jason hadn’t had a chance to eat all day until we started their couples’ pictures. What better way to start off than with some Asti?

Parveen made this bouquet herself. Talk about talent!

Maybe he got that one wrong…

The doli was an emotional goodbye for Parveen.

The decor that Parveen and Jason chose for their sweetheart stage was so romantic.

The couple had a quick change at the Edmonton Hotel and Convention Centre before heading to the wedding reception at Meridian Banquet Hall

The dance performances were an allegory for how they met and their life together.

Alisha & Inaayat – Wedding Photographers Edmonton and Canmore

While most Edmontonians were cursing mother nature at the end of March, Alisha was thanking her for all the snow. And her dream of a Rocky Mountain fairy tale wedding came true!

The festivities started with a pre-wedding party, with Inaayat’s family bringing gifts to Alisha, and Alisha’s family offering her blessings for her wedding day.

The following day, Alisha & Inaayat celebrated their traditional Muslim wedding ceremony in Edmonton.

Then we all headed down to Canmore for the reception! The weather was beautiful, and we managed to find a few remnants of winter. Thanks to my awesome second shooter Tessa for some of these shots! (And thanks to Lanny for driving me around to look at a few different spots). As wedding photographers from Edmonton, we love getting out around the world (even close to home) and looking for new locations to work in.

The reception was at Silvertip Resort in Canmore.

The Muslim wedding reception begins with a few traditional ceremonies, including determining who wears the pants in the relationship, and presenting gifts to the brothers (including a signed Messier print and trip to Boston!) Both Alisha & Inaayat have close relationships with their families, and throughout the night it was easy to see how much they are loved and supported. Hearing Alisha’s twin brother’s toast to her was especially touching.

Sherise & Jon – Winter Woodland Wedding in Edmonton – Wedding Photographers

Sherise phoned one night, just before we were going off on another Shandro travel adventure. We’d talked over email a bit, but hadn’t connected to meet. Within 5 minutes of picking up the phone her wedding was booked, and we were looking forward to meeting in a couple of months! Sherise knew what she wanted, and we’re so thrilled that what she wanted was to work with us. When I finally sat down to meet with her and Jon, I liked them instantly, and could see such an amazing connection between them. Sherise is a bubbly person, but there is an extra twinkle in her eye when Jon is around.

Their whole wedding day was perfect. The weather was beautiful despite a dump of late March snow, the ceremony at reception at Countryside Golf Course (where Jon works) was elegant and whimsical, a beautiful woodland theme pulled everything together. The guests had an amazing time. As a wedding planner, we knew Sherise would have a beautifully detailed wedding.

Professional Photographers of Canada – National Competition 2013

Great news from this year’s national competition! 2 of Michael’s images took a score of Merit (to give you an idea of how awesome this is, there was only 1 image across all wedding categories that scored the highest mark of excellence), and one was accepted. This is a fantastic result, as he is only allowed to enter 4 images. We’re super excited, and looking forward to the convention in Vancouver shortly to see if any of them take Best in Class this year! Here are the images:

Ruhee & Ashish – Luxurious Indian Wedding in Edmonton

We’ve been waiting to share Ruhee & Ashish’s wedding with you, and now that it has been featured on WedLuxe magazine (!) we can post it! We can’t say enough about how much fun this wedding was.

Ruhee & Ashish’s wedding was big, bold, emotional, over the top, and glamorous. They were very focused on their guests enjoying themselves and even acknowledged a couple of birthdays at their wedding ceremony lunch, not shy to share their joy and their special day.

An incredible group of vendors was put together by Ruhee, Ashish, their families, and the amazing Jennifer Bergman Weddings.

Ruhee & Ashish shared events with their family before the wedding, mendhi, chura, and a dinner for the out of town guests hosted by Ashish’s family.

Ruhee shared a sweet moment with her mom at her mendhi party. Her family is very close and it was really cool to observe over the whole weekend.

Every detail for the wedding was elegant and fashionable.

The negotiations for Ruhee’s hand at the doli ceremony were spirited!

The wedding rings were exchanged in a private ceremony on the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald patio with the beautiful river valley landscape below. It was very emotional!

We’ve been doing this a long time and I have NEVER seen the ballroom at the Hotel MacDonald look so exquisite for a wedding reception. The lighting transformed the room completely (and alternated from pink to gold, which was amazing!).

Congratulations to Ruhee, Ahsish, and their families for an amazing wedding! We had a wonderful time and were so happy to be a part of it.

faBLOOMosity – Amazingly Creative Edmonton Wedding Florist

We’ve had the immense pleasure of working with Janine and the team at faBLOOMosity many times over the past few years and feel lucky to have photographed Janine’s incredibly creative work. Janine recently moved into a huge gorgeous space in the Mercer warehouse, and I’ve been by to visit many times (usually involving eating treats of some kind – along with a coffee from Roast next door). When Janine asked if I could do some photos of her studio I didn’t hesitate, and I hope you all enjoy the results! First I want to show you a few of our images of Janine’s work. I highly recommend faBLOOMosity to our clients, not only for the beautiful work that Janine does but also for her bubbly personality.
