What a day! While Michael was with Tifanie and her beautiful bridesmaids getting ready, Melissa’s morning was full of laughs. The guys at this wedding are off-the-hook hilarious! The morning games had some of the craziest challenges we’ve seen yet.   Hanson and his groomsmen got very up close and personal with each other…

The ceremony at McDougall United Church was very heartfelt, and the reception at Sutton Place Hotel had some crazy dance moves! Tifanie and Hanson are a wonderful couple and their family made Michael and Melissa feel so welcome for the day. Congratulations!

The gorgeous Nina helped Tifanie get glam for the wedding.

Behind the scenes with Michael & Melissa!

Roxy is a memorable bride for me for many reasons.

- They got married on their 5th anniversary of being together

- She first emailed me two full years before her wedding

- She has an amazingly warm and bubbly personality

- I got my first ever cop-pulled-me-over speeding ticket on my way to book her, and was subsequently late. I cried. (SUPER embarrassing).

Roxy & Jonathan’s wedding was the official kick-off to my crazy summer wedding season, and it couldn’t have been better. They welcomed Sam and I into their wedding like family, and we had a blast together.  Their ceremony was filled with genuine laughter and tears – it was really awesome to hear their love story shine through.

We had the unique opportunity to shoot in her amazing florist’s studio (faBLOOMosity) in the Mercer building downtown, and ran into a random with a cool motorcycle just outside.  Sometimes planning out photos works, sometimes the best ones are the ones you just stumble upon!  And sometimes…you just have to run out into traffic to get what you want.

This was Roxy’s dream – she had seen a photo for inspiration, and really wanted to capture their first kiss with all their friends and family looking on. Since I’m practically a midget, all credit goes to Sam for stepping up (literally) and nailing this one for Roxy & Jonathan!

Michael will be photographing Courtney & Jeff’s wedding next year, and here is what he had to say about their engagement session:

“I love it when clients put their complete trust in me to not only shoot their pictures, but to also choose where to take them. It was a nice surprise that when we went to this parkade to take pictures, there was also some construction material hanging around that made for some unique backdrops. I can’t wait to work with them again next year!”

I had the pleasure of shooting Tracy & Andrew’s wedding with my second shooter Melissa.  Surrounded by friends and family, in their church, and with love in their hearts, they devoted their lives to each other. Tracy’s sons were a pleasure to hang out with, and it was so clear from everyone who attended the wedding how much support Tracy & Andrew have as they start this next chapter of their lives together.  We lucked out with warm spring weather (a stark contrast from the spring snow storm we’re experiencing right now!) and the whole day was wonderful.

I (Haley) started my 2014 wedding season with a beautiful intimate wedding at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Edmonton.  It’s always inspiring to shoot in a new location, and this beautiful old church gave me a lot of warm nooks and crannies to work with. I hadn’t met Jenny & Jordan prior to the wedding, but we had such a great time and I wish them all the best in their new life together!  I also welcomed a new second shooter (Kelsey) to our team and I’m excited to have her on board with us this year.

Usually Michael does most of our retouching, but all of the photos in this post were edited by me – I’ve been cultivating a fascination with Photoshop recently and picking up a few new tricks!

Hotel macdonald wedding

Calli & Tyler had beautiful weather for their winter wedding!  Their wedding was elegant and meaningful – Calli’s brother performed the ceremony and her other two brothers each spoke.  Tyler’s dad introduced the two of them at Joanne & Jon’s wedding years ago that I (Haley) photographed, so it was really cool to see them walk down the aisle this time!  Calli is a nurse and Tyler is a lawyer so they are both very busy but they did a great job planning their wedding with the help of Jenna from Cocktails and Details.  Tyler was going to surprise Calli with the location of their honeymoon and I can’t wait to hear where they went! Thanks to second shooter Sam for shooting this one with Michael.

When Alex told me about her New Year’s Eve wedding (on her fiance’s family farm near Trochu) I told her I was in, as long as it wasn’t an outdoor ceremony.  <pause> Then she told me it was an outdoor ceremony.  I’m not going to lie, I was a little terrified I’d end up frozen in a snowbank, or that our cameras would freeze and stop working. But, it was actually fantastic, and the wintry ceremony was picturesque.  Alex, Devin and their whole bridal party were amazing and didn’t complain one bit about the cold.

Alex and I first met in Vegas, and we’ve had some amazing times together since then.  She can go from country to city with the change of an outfit, and loves celebrities as much as her farm animals. Devin is hard working, and will do anything for anyone. Both sweet, and a perfect match.  I loved visiting their farm last summer for their engagement photos, and it was really cool to see it transformed in the winter.

Happy New Year everyone!!  We can’t wait to share more fabulous weddings with you in 2014!

I’ve been sitting here for a few minutes trying to figure out what to write.  It’s hard to express just how special this wedding was for us, and how wonderful Julia & Richard are. I first met Julia at a class for new wedding planners, and after going to a preview of ‘Bridesmaids’ together we became fast friends.  Julia is one of the most positive and compassionate people I’ve ever met. And she and Richard are such a warm and loving couple.  I was thrilled when Richard asked me to help him propose to Julia last year (he’s quiet, but incredibly romantic), and it’s been such a fun experience to help Julia plan her wedding (with the hashtag #juliasweddingfeaturingrichard) and finally to see them tie the knot at the end of October.  Big shout out to all the groomsmen who were SUPER fun to hang out with!

I could go on and on, but I’ll let the photos do the talking!  The girls all got ready at my house, and I’ll admit it was kind of strange after the wedding to cull through images from my own house (and my own face!).  Michael did a fantastic job on these photos, especially with the added pressure of Julia being a wedding planner (Once Upon Your Day), and his A-type wife being a bridesmaid.

We can’t forget Charlie, who even got his own boutonniere! He was a big part of the proposal so he had to be there for some of the wedding photos.

WOW.  I got to watch Janine from faBLOOMosity create Julia’s bouquet and it was a fantastic experience. She is so creative, and there are so many unique and interesting flowers and plants in this bouquet. Stunning.

Tricia loves photos and loved working with Michael so much for her wedding that she wanted to have another shoot in her dress!  Derek is an awesome husband and obliged for another photo shoot.  I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of these two in the future!
