Sherise phoned one night, just before we were going off on another Shandro travel adventure. We’d talked over email a bit, but hadn’t connected to meet.  Within 5 minutes of picking up the phone her wedding was booked, and we were looking forward to meeting in a couple of months!  Sherise knew what she wanted, and we’re so thrilled that what she wanted was to work with us.  When I finally sat down to meet with her and Jon, I liked them instantly, and could see such an amazing connection between them.  Sherise is a bubbly person, but there is an extra twinkle in her eye when Jon is around.

Their whole wedding day was perfect. The weather was beautiful despite a dump of late March snow, the ceremony at reception at Countryside Golf Course (where Jon works) was elegant and whimsical, a beautiful woodland theme pulled everything together. The guests had an amazing time.  As a wedding planner, we knew Sherise would have a beautifully detailed wedding.

Special thanks to Funmi from FO Photography – Funmi and her husband are photographers from the UK who have relocated to Edmonton, and she came along to the wedding with us to experience a true winter wedding! The shot below is hers.

The rain threatened to derail this engagement session, and I’ll admit that by the time I got to my car by glasses were fogged up and my clothes were pretty damp, but it was all worth it. I can’t wait for Jacquie & Joe’s backyard ceremony this fall!

Andrea and Blake had such a fun wedding.  Blake and Andrea are full of personality and it really shows in the kind of pictures that we took. It was Andrea’s idea to go to a pool hall, and I love the group shot we got there.  Andrea was gorgeous on her wedding day, and the pops of purple colour throughout the wedding made for a vibrant day!

One of the wedding guests is an ETS driver, so they had an awesome custom charter ETS bus to tour them around. (Thanks Melissa for this great shot!)

Meet Julia, (and her man Richard, and sweet puppy Charlie). Julia is the creative mind/owner of Once Upon Your Day event planning, and one of my BFFs =) Julia and I met a few years ago and bonded over some free passes to the movie Bridesmaids (how appropriate), we share a mutual love of trashy TV and I’ve grown to love Charlie. Now we have a goal – we want to work together on a wedding! So if you’re thinking of booking Shandro Photo for your wedding, please check out Julia’s website, go meet with her, we’d make a great team ;)

In the meantime, please enjoy these photos of Julia’s extended family.

Shelby & John’s wedding took place on a beautiful summer day, which was good because they had an outdoor ceremony. In Edmonton that’s always a risk since the weather is so unpredictable, but we were lucky enough to have a beautiful warm sunny day for them. Not that I don’t love wedding photography in the rain…but…

If you’re a fan of our Facebook page (and if not, why aren’t you yet?) you will have seen a sneak peek of this beautiful wedding, and now here is the whole story for you.

Florals: The Wild Orchid
Hair: Shelby’s sister
Makeup: Sephora
Ceremony: Rutherford House
Reception: Continental Treat

Shelby & John opted for a first look at the Mettera hotel on Whyte Ave, where Shelby got ready.

Shelby gifted John this beautiful Gibson guitar as a wedding present. I can’t show you a few of the photos that Bruce took of John with his guitar.  Let’s just say he has a sense of humour. Shelby & John met in high school but didn’t start dating until they connected in University, when Shelby saw John playing guitar with his band.

Shelby’s bouquet incorporated beading from John’s great grandmother’s wedding – they share a wedding anniversary as his great grandparents were married exactly 100 years earlier!

The intimate ceremony was followed by a fun reception at Continental Treat restaurant on Whyte Ave.  We used to live right across the street but never went in. It always looked good, so I was glad to have a chance to try it out!  The atmosphere the whole night felt like a fun cocktail party.

Congratulations Shelby & John! Your wedding was beautiful, and I enjoyed being a part of it.

This is a post for all of the new brides and brides to be who read our blog.  I want you to think about your wedding for a moment…the flowers, the dress, the cake, the look on your new husband’s face when he sees you for the first time.  Those memories and moments are the reason that you choose to hire a fantastic photographer for your wedding, for many brides that is a given, a high priority. But what about afterwards? There are so many options for what to do with your photos that it can be overwhelming.

The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers has recently published my article ‘The Essential Guide to Wedding Albums’ – it breaks down each type of album and option to help you showcase your wedding photos in the best possible way.  Please read and enjoy!
